Next Gen Breeze Up Panel kicks off flat season

ITBA Next Generation got the flat racing season off to a start at Naas Racecourse last weekend with their highly successful Breeze Up Seminar. Over 80 attendees packed into the room to hear about insights into the Breeze Up sector.

The panel was hosted by Sally Ann Grassick, and included Ross Doyle, Brendan Holland, Katie McGivern, Michael O’Callaghan, and Roger O’Callaghan.

The panel spoke about the Breeze Up sector from all perspectives including consignors, trainers and agents, how they prepare for the upcoming sales, selecting stock and current opportunities and threats that could arise in the future. The whole panel agreed that it can be a tough game for newcomers to get into and you need to be realistic when taking the first steps. They spoke about getting experience with seasoned players who have been in the game for a long time, learning from where they made their mistakes, rather than making your own. They also advised that the best way is to pool resources together to allow you to invest in better quality and give you a better advantage going forward.
